Packing Checklist

Packing the right gear is crucial for the Kailash Yatra.

• Thermal innerwear, fleece jacket, and waterproof outer shell jacket.
• Sturdy trekking boots with ankle support and woollen socks.
• High-SPF sunscreen, UV sunglasses, and lip balm.
• Personal first aid kit, altitude medication, and prescription medicines.
• Reusable water bottle, energy bars, and dry snacks.

Altitude Sickness Information

Altitude sickness (AMS) is a serious concern as the route reaches elevations above 5,600m. Understanding symptoms and prevention is vital.

• Symptoms: headache, nausea, dizziness, and shortness of breath.
• Acclimatization stops are built into the itinerary — do not skip them.
• Stay hydrated and avoid alcohol at high altitude.
• Diamox may be prescribed — consult your doctor before the trip.

Visa & Permit Information

Multiple permits and visa documents are required. All documentation must be arranged well in advance.

• China Group Visa (Tibet Travel Permit) — arranged through our agency.
• Nepal Visa — obtainable on arrival at Kathmandu airport.
• Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) Permit — mandatory.
• Valid passport with minimum 6 months validity beyond travel dates.

Travel Insurance Details

Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended and in many cases mandatory for the Kailash Yatra.

• High-altitude trekking insurance covering elevations above 5,000m is mandatory.
• Must cover emergency medical evacuation and helicopter rescue.
• Minimum coverage of USD $50,000 for medical expenses advised.
• Submit a copy of your policy to our team before departure.
